The legendary John Sahag, on his brilliant windswept hair for Issey Miyake’s Fall 1997 Fashion show in Paris, said: “There were no curls, no bends, no waves. It was all straight, like the wind was blowing the hair into the shapes on each head, naturally.” If ever an album is a must-read, it is this one. Make sure to read Sahag’s words under every photo. These Renaissance-inspired waves cascading by Esther Langham were photographed backstage, after the Nanette Lepore New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2010. I was amazed at how well the waves had lasted. Not all Fashion Week waves last!! Some don’t make it to the runway looking as good as these. For more waving beauties and how-to’s for this beautiful show, click here:

A Betty Grable look was modernized by Karmela Lozina and the John Sahag Workshop Team for Kati Stern, the designer for Venexiana at her NY Fashion Week Fall 2008 show.    The hair was swept up into ponytails, hair extensions were pre-set in rollers, having been straightened, curled, spiraled. They were then pinned on the front of the head as barrel curls –  “like glamour meets rocky billy,” said Karmela.    For more from the show click here:

Curly Curls, Coin Hair Jewelry - 2011

Curly curls cascaded with pure gold coin hair jewelry added to one side, on bobby pins. A great idea anyone could copy.   The hair was by Peter Gray at the Badgley Mischka Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week show which was inspired by the 1988 movie “White Mischief” about wealthy decadent colonial ladies with a proper veneer and smoldering sensuality.

This hair was pretty, flattering, and looked good from all angles, including front view!!!!!   For more versions, click here:
