Fashion With Passion @ Met Museum - 2019

Photos Helen Oppenheim. Collages helenoppenheim.com

Inspiration from the Sandy Schreier In “Pursuit Of Fashion Collection” currently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Anna Wintour Costume Institute – to May 17, 2020.   See half a century of American and French Couture fashions, a gift from a private collector with a passion for fashion. Included,  Adrian 40s dresses, the armchair and rope hats, and many treasures by unknown designers.  The extraordinary fashions include designs by Fortuny, Vionett, Schiarparalli, Karl Lagerfeld, Philip Treacy and was started when Sandy Schrier was three years old.  Schreier once modeled for Vidal Sassoon but there is no hair – replaced by whimsical Stephen Jones head treatments.

Omg. Is this the biggest ring ever seen?   And the others aren’t exactly small or ordinary either.  The silver man wearing all this jewelry, is David Mandel of David Mandel Jewelry, captured here in all his glory at Barbara Flood’s Christmas Party.  She in turn has plenty of amazing jewelry and things to make the soul soar  @floodscloset on Ebay and Etsy.  You can find the ring master @mandeldavid7 on instagram

Inspo. Hair Design On Face - 2019

Photos: Nathan Mays

Fab, flirty, fantastic. Gelled kiss curls spiral on the face in an intricate design, by Sherri Jessee, who brings another whole concept idea for drop-dead entrances, fashion photography, fashion runways, red carpet.  Even one kiss curl is better than a boring bare face, however beautiful! The hair does need to be one length, but the idea could also work with a one length bob or most updos. The possibilities are endless. First published in my column for the December issue of Peluquerias Magazine, where there are many more hair inspo ideas.

Photo: Helen Oppenheim

Trend Alert.  Captured backstage at the Global Collective NY Fashion Week show for Spring 2020, this lip mustache being painted on a male model with hair up to there. A lip mustache is   something new.  Black lipstick on the upper lip, with ends curling up, like a mustache of the old days.  Worn here with  a Frida Kahlo eyebrow.  The exaggerated make up on both sexes was by Michelle Strain . The hair was  by Jorge Luis, the fashions by Mr Hua/Mrs Hua, a Chinese brand designed by NiuNiu Chou, a fusion of pop art with contemporary styling. Stay tuned for more  …
