REMEMBERING ALL WHO SERVED ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
The Cadette Chignon was designed for an Armani fashion show in Toronto, by La Coupe, in 1978. It was worn with hair half up, half down, or all up. Jerome Pinsonneault, George Karkoulas and La Coupe’s staff made khaki-colored, satin-covered forms and the hair was tucked under, with an Armani medal added at the front. This photo brings back fond memories of the Armani show we did for ” Chez Catherine” .All the models were cadetted in some version of this photo and I got to meet the man himself after the show, a special moment in my career. Thanx to all the talent and dedication of Helen, Goerge, Stacey, Charles +++ , we did have fun!
Yes, we were quite a team and, yes, we did have fun. Great great chignon, Jerome. An original, copying no one.
I so love this photo…..It brings so many memories. I actually was a Girl Scout. But this is a Cadet. She is priceless. It also brings memories of the wonderful Girls waiting for their Men in the war.
I was thinking about how much I did on a small budget. After the first photos and the massive PR they got, and because I credited everyone and put the effort in to make sure everyone got copies of their work (very time consuming!) everyone wanted to work with us – models, photographers, makeup artists. Perhaps it was easier then than it would be now, I don’t know.
Thanks Charles, but I didn’t do it alone. La Coupe was very lucky to have some great talents who listened, and worked with me, a non-hairdresser. But it was rapid fire. We were all on fire, As I always say, we all had Camelot for that short while. Yes, the Barcelona Show was a huge success.
What still amazes me about your beautiful work Helen is that the idea for, the detailed planning, the execution, were all created with the smallest budget imaginable. Really genius, the rapid fire of all your great photos put La Coupe on the map.
I also think this was one of the looks we used at our fab show in Barcelona, which brought the house down…..and a standing ovation..
Thanks to all who made it happen.
