Détente - 1974

Détente  was La Coupe’s bid for peaceful co-existence – in 1974, when relations between the Soviet Union and the United States eased during the Cold War. We attracted a lot of press, including The New York Sunday Times, with this political hair idea!

Here is one photo from the  famous Détente Collection.    La Coupe believed in width, not height or length to soften and frame winter faces and to balance the longer and larger winter fashions that year.  The hair was to the jaw, bobbed, no layers.  For more from this iconic campaign, which also referenced the movie “Chinatown” go to HairThen, La Coupe, 70s on www.helenoppenheim.com –  don’t forget to look at and read the details …
