Tweed Pearls Glasses Waves NYFW - 2017

Photos: Paul Morejón

I have a feeling for tweeds this Fall. And a tweed with ruffles is even hotter. This great look, shown with embellished glasses and large pearls, is by Greedilous, designed by Youn-hee-Park, (0ne of three Korean brands presented) –  all photographed backstage at the Concept Korea New York Fashion Week show for Fall 2017. The wet waves were by Jon Reyman, makeup by Janell Geason, both for Aveda. The full page on the left is from my July 2017 column in Peluquerias Magazine. Dreamy '20s-Inspired Geisha Bride – 2011

Photo: Martin Scott Powell

I have always loved the feeling of this dreamy ’20s-inspired Geisha Bride from the Elisa Palomino New York Fashion Week Show in 2011. Yes, the hair by Jon Reyman for Aveda is somewhat big, and exaggerated, as is the large squashy flower with feathers, but the fashions, the model, the photograph, the bride are all fabulous divine wonderful, don’t you think? Loving today’s modern Afro like this wonderful head of curls, at a great length, with hair by Jon Reyman for the Leann Marshall New York Fashion Week Show for Spring/Summer 2017. It is worn with a dream dress, one of the gorgeous gowns that floated down the runway at Skylight Clarkson Square. For more hair and more dream dresses, click HERE

Keeping Warm With Nicholas K – 2014

Repost.  Brrr. It’s cold outside.  This fab fur hood was one of many great fashions for harsh, winter weather shown at the Nicholas K Fall/Winter 2014 New York Fashion Week Show.  It’s a winner, as were more fashions at this show, by the siblings, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz.

All the hair, um, wigs, were by Jon Reyman for Aveda and had a strong asymmetric geometric look with a hair fringe going up over one eyebrow. More from this great show, click:

Hair Crimping Magic, NYFW Fall – 2016

Hair Crimping Magic, NYFW Fall - 2016

For the Naeem Khan Fall 2016 New York Fashion Week Show, Jon Reyman created hair crimping magic. First he sprayed on each section of hair, then crimped and 1/2″ curled opposite sections horizontally, brushed it out, then backcombed, shaped and pinned to style. The crimped hair, before it was brushed out, looked like something wonderful and could be a futuristic hair style all on it own. Or is it an 18th Century modern look? The hair by Jon Reyman, Aveda, for the Naeem Khan New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2016 was big, beautiful and romantic to go with the dazzling, shimmery, gorgeous glam gowns. Fiber Optics Hair - 2016

Hair looking like a bolt from the blue, space-age hair with fiber optics, inspired by jellyfish and anemones. By Peter Gray with Erika Fung photographed at Daniel’s Spectrum for the 2016 Catwalk Show benefiting WaterAid and presented by Montpellier on May 1st in Toronto, sponsored by Civello.   Made out of shredded hair with Aveda Control Force and adhesive glue, it was flattened with parchment paper, then airbrushed with blue color on the edges. Fiber optic lights were placed one by one on the sheet and fed through the middle of the headpiece, gathered in the center, then connected with led lights.   Stay tuned for more on this show by WorldGreat Peter Gray collaborating with Lupe Voss and Frank Rizzieri.   Meanwhile, check his Hair Art album with other shows he did, click HERE
