Cooked Wet-Looking Mashed Hair – 2016

Photo: © Helen Oppenheim

The hair, by Jon Reyman, Aveda, for the Academy of Art University School of Fashion New York Fashion Week Show for Spring 2016 was cooked, wet-looking “dirty” hair. It felt stiff and sticky, swirled and mashed around the top of the head, the back left long. All had a wet look which was not wet, a Jon Reyman signature style. A wig cap was used to “cook” the hair with a flat set, more hair, fashions, shoes, click HERE

Innovative Re-Engineered Old School Waves – 2015

These innovative old school waves were “re-engineered” by Robert Grimes of RLG Salon in Texas. He created them with comb and fingers, working diagonally from crown to the hairline, waiting for each section to dry before going to the next section. He was a Finalist in 3 categories for The North American Hairdressing Awards in 2015 – NAHA – and won the prestige award of Hairstylist of the Year for this and (not shown) a veiled look all made of hair which took 3 weeks to get 2 square feet of usable netting, plus a braided process, which “took 10 hours of finger numbing work.”

Jon Reyman’s braided hair going this way and that was inspired by “rams horns” and used wires at the back for the sculptured, modern looks he created for the Tenby Presentation at New York Fashion Week, Spring 2016. The fashions and this lovely lace dress were designed by Kara Janx who said she was inspired by an “enchanted garden” for her debut collection. For more great looks, click HERE

Samurai Warrior Hair Loops #NYFW – 2015

Aveda’s Jon Reyman played his cards right at the Academy of Art University School of Fashion Show for Fall 2015.   He invented a sleek samurai warrior hair loop which went with the fashions of 10 collections presented by 15 designers. The hair was center sectioned with very straight partings and flat ironed. Seen here Mac makeup artist Victor Cambellin in action. And the cards? Just a fun way to protect the clips from making marks, For more versions and fashions, click HERE

The hair at the Nicholas K New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2015 was gothic pretty, with grey lights here and there, a loose knot to one side, some hair cut shorter at the front, where the hair was draped to one side. Jon Reyman of Aveda said “the hair was dirtied up.” By that he meant it was messed up a bit.   For more versions and details, click HERE
