Guido Palau, who innovates for the world’s top magazines and fashion designers, thinks “hyperreal” hair color is verging. A long way from “realness.” He thinks it feels almost computerized. Lena Ott, who collaborated and helped create this “Head Trip” for the December issue of British Vogue, thinks there is a sci-fi anime feeling here. There is. Take note, hair color is not going to be only natural looking, as it was, colorific hair has been on the horizon for many years now, and is about to become even more exciting. Trend. Leg Of Mutton Sleeves – 2016

Trend. Watch out for leg-of-mutton sleeves. The look, which plays into the wider shoulder fashion feeling, made an appearance in the Fall 2016 Collections, especially in Paris. They first came on the fashion scene in the 1820s, became very popular in the early 1830s, and again in the 1890s (Gibson Girls) – and in the 1980s, as in this great 1983 British Vogue photo with incredible hair by WorldGreat Harry King. How did they get the name? Could be they look like mutton joints (sheep legs) which are larger on the top, thinner at the bottom towards the foot – just as the sleeve is puffed at the shoulder, closer fitting on the forearm, and is often tighter at the wrist. A Belle Epoque kind of look in this famous photo published in British Vogue, 1983. Harry King, who did this great hair remembers: “We were supposed to go to India for this sitting but the visas didn’t come through, We all shot up with antibiotics for the trip and got a swollen arm! We did the ‘trip” in Lategan’s studio in NY. It was Maria’s first job as a model and she was terrified. One of the most creative experiences.
