“Teased, big, young,” said Orlando Pita about this dramatic free-flowing polished bouffant hair to there. A thin headband is added to the front of the head for this big tease from the Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.   Step by steps, other versions, some fashions later, click here:

Trending. Tiny Treats – 2014

Trending. Tiny Treats - 2012/2014

Photos: © Helen Oppenheim … Collage by helenoppenheim.com

Tiny treats are trending slowly but surely – and none too soon for those weight challenged who also have a sweet tooth.  I had one small brownie yesterday at Pain de Quotidien Bakery in NY. It was enough (Photo top left and right, seen here with small madeleines.)

At the Betsey Johnson Spring 2012 NY Fashion Week show I photographed the tiny treats, bottom left, Baked my Melissa, who has since opened in a dozen mostly NY locations. Carolina Herrera has been offering tiny bagels and croissants backstage for years, but I don’t see them anywhere else, except sometimes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Press events. Why not? In fact, I see croissants bigger than ever with zillions of calories in too many otherwise good bakeries, often not baked as well as they should be! Time for tiny treats, Let’s help make it happen …

Chignon With Beads @ Carolina Herrera – 2010

Chignon With Beads @ Carolina Herrera - 2010

As New York Fashion Week nears for Spring 2015 (September 4th to 11th) here’s a look-back to Spring 2010. With hope and a prayer there will be more ideas like this, and not too many ponytails and nothing hair! This modern  chic chignon had bronze, gold or silver beads embedded by Orlando Pita for Carolina Herrera’s New York Fashion Week show that year. The beads, on a headband, showed through easy-going, gently-twisted, tucked-under knots of hair resting elegantly on napes. The hair wasn’t stiff, structured, or too perfect and was exquisite. Sometimes, mistakes can be beautiful.  Right, a collage which just happened, a mistake.  But so interesting, I thought you’d like to see it.  Top and to both sides are photos from the website cover (Dancing Hair, La Coupe’s Antonio da Costa Rocha, 1986) and center are photos from Carolina Herrera’s Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week Spring 2011 (Orlando Pita’s Origami Hair.)  All photos just happen to be my all-time favorites.  Revisited, the Origami Hair to left, a beautiful innovative hair idea,  the kind of hair not seen often enough at NY Fashion Weeks!

Please, God.  Please no ordinary everyday ponytails at any of the shows I am going to photograph at during New York Fashion Week for Fall 2014, which starts for me on Thursday.  At least this one is a low curled polished ponytail with a little something going on.  Hair by Orlando Pita, Orlo Salon, for Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2008 Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week show.  For more from various Fashion Week shows, click

On A Roll, Carolina Herrera - Fall 2013

Photo: Helen Oppenheim

For Carolina Herrars’s Fall 2013 NY Fashion Week show, Orlando Pita, Orlo Salon, designed sleek mid-parted styles – elegant hair rolls  designed close to the head, tightly coiled, wider at the front.

The modern, graphic 40s-inpsired styles went with the many high necks in the fabulous show.  The fashions were for today’s dressed-up woman with fur details on the sleeves, waists, necks, dresses, everywhere – all worn with flirty skirt movements and red lips by Diane Kendal for Mac.   For more, go to NY Fashion Week, Fall 2013 on www.helenoppenheim.com
