Interesting Crimping @ Juliana Bass NYFW – 2018

Here is something simple, stylish and super at the same time. Crimping in just one area at the back of straight one-length hair. “The crimping compliments and contrasts the vertical pleats in the collection which inspired the horizontal crimping,” said Marco Vogt backstage at the Julianna Bass New York Fashion Week Show for Spring 2018 which featured some wearable technology fashions, subtle and exciting, just like the hair.  For more hair and fashions from this show, CLICK HERE

My latest Blog as a Guest Contributor for Modern Salon has just arrived. Backstage @ Fashion Shows is about photographing hair backstage. How to get the most out of what goes on backstage during New York Fashion Weeks, also for any show or event. I blog from the viewpoint of a PhotoJournalist after some sixteen years photographing backstage.   I also get personal!!   Here is just one of the images, all showing most of  the world’s leading hairdressers in action. Check it out, click HERE

Do you know your hair history? This photo features the first crimped hair of the modern era, literally created with a 50 year old crimping machine from the 20s – in 1975. It is a photo I love, from the iconic La Coupe Sleeper Collection. For more of this wider than wide look, and more crimped styles, click:

In 1975, hair was getting bigger in Europe and in Montreal, La Coupe’s testing ground for high fashion hair trends, the world-class innovators made the hair bigger than big, and wide, very wide. With a new texture, thanks to an old crimping machine.  More later on that. For more Sleepers, HairThen,  La Coupe, 70s on www.helenoppenheim.com
