Short curly hair looking soft and romantic, by Kim Lepine, from La Coupe’s 1987 Boudoir Hair Collection.   The back was a soft “V” shaped, close to the head, small. “No more squared-off, cut-across or cut-up napes,” she said at the time. Kim Lepine had this rare talent of always making her hairstyles soft, pretty, feminine with charming little details, whether the hair was short, long, curly straight.  She called these curls: “Tiny angel-like, delicious, sweet but not too sweet.” Hope you agree. Because the look has stood the test of time and could be as fashion forward today as way back then when she called it “The New Direction.” For much more (close-up, sideview, backview and tutorials) click:

Another romantic feeling from La Coupe New York in 1987, Boudoir Hair, for the boudoir and dancing the night away, worn with lingerie looks.

La Coupe introduced The New Curl and Kim Lepine, International Design Director, predicted:  “The New Direction is small heads, closer to the head, with soft “V” backs.”  Great short curly look for a growing-out gamine.  For much more and tutorials, go to HairThen, 80s Hair, Boudoir Hair.
