John Sahag and I taking notes, with fashion designer Cynthia Rowley and her assistant at the briefing for her Fall 1996 New York Fashion Week Show.

He was very organized when it came to Fashion Shows. Everything to do with the hair was meticulously planned, he sometimes did sketches, and he did a preparation model for the fashion designer to approve before the Workshop team starting working seriously on any fashion show, wherever it was. He always used 100% human hair pieces which were spread out on the Workshop floor, even when clients were there. The reason the salon was called a Workshop, because it was. Rugged and smooth, rough and refined, strong and soft, this was the hair by the legendary John Sahag for Cynthia Rowley’s NY Fashion Week Show, for Fall 1997.

No ordinary ponytail this!! Textured hair, many contrasting shades in slightly mismatched or offbeat tones, was mixed with straight hair for this extraordinary look. “Mostly, it’s all about texture, not curls, not frizz, but movements in odd, interesting ways,” said Sahag at the time – way ahead of his time. JOHN SAHAG FOR CYNTHIA ROWLEY – 1997

Runway inspirations from the legendary John Sahag for the Cynthia Rowley NY Fashion Week Show in 1997.  Rugged and smooth, rough and refined, strong and soft, this was the hair to go with the theme of the show.  He used old electric wires to set hair, with a new twist.  For more great Sahag runway inspirations, go to HairThen, John Sahag, Fashion Shows on helenoppenheim.com
