The hair for the Mongol Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week for Fall 2015 was by Edward Tricomi, Warren-Tricomi Salons, and was influenced by the Mongolian fashions. The look was primitive, with a braid up the center of the hair on top of the head, almost like a horse’s main at the back, ends were loose. This is a 1920s style done in a modern abstract way, by Edward Tricomi, Warren-Triocmi Salons. The dramatic wig had cut-in waves and was one of many versions on the theme for the Douglas Hannant glamorous Art Deco-inspired Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week show for Fall 2011. The hair, described by Edward Tricomi backstage at the Douglas Hannant Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week Show was “40s in a modern way, reminiscent of Rosie the Riveter.”   This must be what everyone wants. Waves cascading down the back. the front rolled back and up. For more, click here

Back views of interesting hair photographed backstage by Helen Oppenheim at the Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Weeks over the years. I photograph so many back views because that is where the only hair action all too often is.  I know so many only see front views in the media, so thought you’d like to see what goes on at the back by some of the best talents in the biz.  No ponytails here!

If you scroll down my blog, always a journey down memory lane, all these great styles have been featured big; also all these photos and many more plus makeup, fashions, accessories (and some tutorials with details how to re-create these looks) can be found in albums on the NY Fashion Week Menu at www.helenoppenheim.com

Anne V, Age 15 @ NY Fashion Week – 2002

ANNE V, SUPERMODEL, AT AGE 15 - 2002

Photo: © Helen Oppenheim

Anne Vyalitsyna, known as Anne V, Russian born model/actress, 10 years in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and ongoing.   At 16 she was the face in Chanel’s Chance perfume ads. And from then has worked for all the majors of everything.

When she was just 15 years old, I photographed her backstage at the J. Lindberg NY Fashion Week show, with this amazing wide hair by Edward Tricomi, Warren Tricomi Salon, NY. I remember, I wanted to photo no one else, I waited and waited, and caught her for a brief second just after her nails were done and not dry for this photo.

(One day, I will scan years of Fashion Week Photos which I have on film, as this was.)

Sixth in a series featuring the talent in action working on photos in the Archives.

This is Edward Tricomi, also known as Edward Scissorhands for his signature cutting technique, like no other.  He is in action here making magic as he cuts blue hair in 2011 during a very classy promotion, in the window of the very prestigious Bergdorf Goodman Department Store on Fifth Avenue. Now this is a good idea to help promote a salon!   For more Edward Tricomi of Warren-Tricomi Salons, visit WorldGreats, click here:
