Goodbye to Four Seasons Restaurant – 2016

iPhoto: Guy Oppenheim

Here I am saying goodbye to The Four Seasons Restaurant as we know it. I first ate there, in the late ’70s or early ’80s, shoved upstairs on the balcony of the Grill Room because, I think, my guest was another woman, albeit an important editor of a major magazine. I was so insulted, and embarrassed that, although on a large expense account when I was PR/Creative Director at Vidal Sassoon and expected to take guests to top restaurants, I didn’t eat there again, until the late ’80s. I have good memories in later decades, as guests of others, dining at better tables!!!  The beautiful famous restaurant is closing this Saturday, on July 16, 2016. Sadly. (The restaurant is closing it’s present location and will reopen nearby, in about 18 months, according to source.)   The Four Seasons restaurant was designed in 1959 by Philip Johnson for Mies van der Rohe’s landmark Seagram building on Park Avenue. Take a look at some of the items being auctioned on July 26, 2016 at 10 am et. You can register to bid live. There will be 500 lots, the sale will include furniture, tableware, cookware and more, details click HERE
