Love Shack Fancy Shoes NYFW – 2023

Photos: Helen Oppenheim. Collage helenoppenheim.com
The Love Shack Fancy New York Fashion Week Show for Spring/Summer 2024, was totally charming. The fashions were ethereal, romantic, super feminine, whimsical. So were the shoes. Which could inspire those willing to be inspired. The fashions had a Victorian/ Edwardian feel, some were ’30s influenced, yet all were modern. To appeal to women of all ages. Hats off to designer Rebecca Hessel Cohen, who created a super show at the Refectory Chelsea Square. CommentElysian Magazine Fall Issue Launch – 2023

The Fall issue of Elysian Magazine, a handsome, beautifully produced women’s lifestyle magazine published quarterly about Women Inspiring Women, fashion, art, culture and more, was launched last night at the National Arts Club. Publisher, Karen Floyd (business woman, former Prosecutor and Judge, CEO of Paladium Group) hosted the elegant event where everyone was asked to wear black and gold, not that everyone took note. (I did!! Right down to my gold eyeshadow, jewelry, watch – and I’m a silver woman!) Never mind, everyone looked elegant! The cover featured Dr. Christina Rahm, who provides solutions to the world that help people, animals and the environment. Here are just a few photos. Larger and more to come on social media.

Chiaki Hino created some fun hair, dressed and decorated up to there, for Lim Asafuji, the Designer and Creative Director for the Pays des fées line of Women’s and Men’s Ready To Wear, Shoes, Accessories and more. She likes to “express deep themes each season” – yes, we like that.

Better than a bare forehead and a boring safe no-no hairstyle, these kiss curls and hair movements by Takayuki Shibata make a pretty fashion statement as seen at the Harunobumurata Fall Winter 2023 runway show during Rakuten Fashion Week in Tokyo. Stay tuned for Spring Summer 2024 from Rakuten.

CommentMarcel Waves Return, Again – 2023

Photos: Serge Beauchemin, Lorraine Sylvestre, Helen Oppenheim
Hair Trend Alert – The New York Times published “Put a Crimp in It” article by Ruth La Ferla in the Style Section, April 18, 2023; Subheading – “Rihanna, Halle Berry and Zendaya are just a few of the high wattage stars to have revisited the Marcel wave.”
Yes, Waving Beauties with Marcel Waves are returning as salons and people are enjoying the good life again. The fashion forward are fed up with beachy waves and nothing hair. More groomed and interesting hair has started to appear on fashionable heads walking out of salons now, inspired by past eras like the Twenties and Thirties, again.
Photos here from a ‘70s HairThen album in my Archives which were inspired by past eras and updated then, still modern today, plus some photos I have taken backstage at New York Fashion Weeks when the hair was more groomed.
