Photo: Collin Pierson

Idan Cohen, the show-stopping designer, took us on a journey from romance to glam at the Plaza Hotel for New York Bridal Week Fall 2018 with his “Empire of Love” Couture and “Glam” Diffusion Collections. The gowns were a dreamy yet sensual array of deep V’s, cut-aways, intricate 3-D embroidery, slits, fringe, caps, low cut backs, ruching, off the shoulder draping, shawling, asymmetrically shoulder cut bodices and detachable skirts and sleeves. Stay tuned for more from his dazzling show,  and the beautiful braids by Wade Lee. For more gorgeous gowns, CLICK HERE

This Is My Mother - 30s

Photo: Unknown

This is my Mother when she was young. She never told me and I only found out later, after she had passed away, by chance, that she modeled for a beauty salon in London. Even though she knew I was in the hair biz!!! I could never work out, never got answers, how come she had these great photos, some very large. Here she is with her lovely curly hair waved and blonde. I never knew her as a blonde or looking anything like this. But I do love this photo.  She was a wonderful Mother to me when I was a kid and in my teens.  Always there for me.  Wishing you all a Happy Mother’s Day.

Angel Hair Inspired by Religious Paintings -1987

Angel Hair Inspired by Religious Paintings -1987

Photo: Geoffrey Hargrave Thomas

Inspired by religious paintings and the French Napoleonic Empire period of the early 19th Century, Kim Lepine created this heavenly hair in 1987 for La Coupe’s Innocence Collection. There was a heady mix of textures with straight hair and tiny wave movements, strategically placed, irregularly. This is just one of the innovative, wearable looks from way back then by La Coupe that has not dated and could be worn today.  This Collection was styled by Arianne Phillips, early in her  career, and she went on to style for Madonna during her most famous time.  For more versions, CLICK HERE

That Iconic "Sleeper" Wide Hair Photo – 1975

Photo: Serge Beauchemin

Reposted. This famous image is from La Coupe’s iconic “Sleeper” Collection by Elmer Olsen in 1975, when he had found two 50 year old antique crimping machines in his Grandmother’s attic. And this was the result from using one of them – very wide hair, flat on top, with a new texture. To see all 17 photos archived in the “Sleeper” album, with the first crimps of the modern era, including crimps from the second machine, much copied, still relevant today, featured in American Vogue CLICK HERE.
