Two Tone Red Lips

Red lips were hot news for Fall. And forever.  For something different, try these two-tone red lips by Makky for MAC Cosmetics, as seen at the Nanette Lepore Fall 2010 NY Fashion Week show. He used MAC’s Magenta Lip Pencil on the top, Lip Forever, a burgundy, on the bottom. Interesting but subtle. TDF. For some great hair and more lips from this show, click HERE

Glitter Glitters on Faces – 2016

Glitter glittering is cool right now. The New York Fashion Week Presentation for Nicola Formichetti’s Nicopanda featured punk, goth, romance and glitter on faces for her and him. Maki Ryoke, Mac Makeup Artist, blew the glitter on in strategic places, protecting the rest of the face and the hair by Peter Gray, which included three different hair looks presented in three different rooms. Here, the hair is crimped in here and there on her and glam, softly waved, behind one ear on him, worn with an athletic hoodie look tied with a satin bow. Clever Clever. Seen on Scene. Some smart Mac makeup artists used a smart phone mounted with handy makeup and brushes to perfect the makeup on models backstage just before the shows started. The lighting was equivalent to that of a powerful camera and it stayed steady bathing the model’s face with flattering and practical light. We saw the iPhone 6 and Galaxy in use and photographed a model getting a finishing touch up at the #AAU #NYFW show. We also photographed a close-up (bottom) of one in use at the Badgley Mischka show for Spring 2015.  Inspiration for all makeup artists backstage.  Brilliant.

Tom Pecheux’s eye makeup for the Badgley Mischka NY Fashion Week Fall 2015 Show featured a square wing, not a pointy one, which extended past the edge of the eye. He used Mac’s Blacktrack topped with Petrol Blue, both from the Fluidline, then he added false eyelashes. Lips were a soft pink. For more from this show, click HERE

The brows at the Badgley Mishcka Spring 2015 NY Fashion Week show made a statement with something new and exciting.

They were Inspired, said Tom Pecheux for Mac, by Peter Gray’s subtle hair color effects. He designed fresh faces with green brows to go with the green in the hair, pink brows, blue brows, lavender brows to match the hair or clothes, all applied with creamy eye shadow sticks so the color stuck to the skin, before powdering.   On the eyelids, a gold shimmery eye gloss, peach lipstick finished the look. No mascara, no eyeliner. It was all about the brows. Subtle. And Chic. For “a little bit of a rebel.” For more on this show, click here

For Carolina Herrars’s Fall 2013 NY Fashion Week show, Orlando Pita, Orlo Salon, designed sleek mid-parted styles – elegant hair rolls  designed close to the head, tightly coiled, wider at the front.

The modern, graphic 40s-inpsired styles went with the many high necks in the fabulous show.  The fashions were for today’s dressed-up woman with fur details on the sleeves, waists, necks, dresses, everywhere – all worn with flirty skirt movements and red lips by Diane Kendal for Mac.   For more, go to NY Fashion Week, Fall 2013 on www.helenoppenheim.com
