Memories, Balloons from John Sahag – 1996
When I was John Sahag’s “Ambassadress” I had some minor surgery at the end of 1996. Just as I was recovering at home after, John Sahag cheered me up more than I can possibly say by sending me zillions of party balloons, a smiley balloon and white orchids. How wonderful was that? This is just one of the Sahag stories I have about his generous side. For more John Sahag memories, click the new album HERE
CommentMemories, Vidal Sassoon – 1979+1980
Memories. From my Vidal Sassoon days as PR and Creative Director of the Vidal Sassoon Salons in the US and Canada. Left, Mary Lou Green, a New York Salon Art Director with a vivid imagination, in action doing her Laser Haircut in Las Vegas, 1979. This story made People Magazine and would have made more media but we only got permission to do it the last minute when Lloyds of London agreed to insure the $9,000 haircut which Mary Lou did on a live model with Dr. Alex Jacobson, a Laser Beam expert and another laser expert, I think, from Hughes Aircraft. This article is probably from Modern Salon, but not 100% sure.
The large photo shows Avram of Vidal Sassoon New York, exhausted after The Queue Photo Shoot in 1980. It had been a long day with clients until late and the shoot went on way into the night and the early morning hours.

Memories. With John Sahag and Rachel – 1997
Memories. At the end of a creative evening one Wednesday in 1997. Here I am with John Sahag at the John Sahag Workshop and Rachel Bick of Rachel’s Saga albums on the website. Wednesday Night creative evenings were for the talent at Sahag to do what they wanted to do, to be creative, and to learn when Sahag gave a demonstration. I was in charge of the evenings and everyone was always very creative!

Memories Vidal Sassoon Days – 1979-1981
Memories. New York. This was the logo designed for my press release photo descriptions, credits and notes to press when I was Vidal Sassoon PR and Creative Director for the US Salons from 1979-1981. Cool logo, yes? And News is what I gave the press. If It’s Not New, It’s Not News was my motto! Hair History is on my website, which includes Vidal Sassoon’s Soft Cubism and HighHair Collections (1979 and 1980) and more … click HairThen here

Vidal Sassoon Creative Board Meeting – 1980
Memories. This is a Creative Board Meeting with the US and Canadian Vidal Sassoon Artistic and Color Directors. The meeting took place in 1980 at the magnificent Vidal Sassoon Corporate offices in Century City, Los Angeles. Around the table were talents from all the North American salons – Beverly Hills, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Toronto.
Fernando Romero, then President of the Vidal Sassoon US and Canadian Salons is standing at the head of the table. To his left, was Rita, his Executive Assistant. Avram, who worked on many photos on this website, is the man with beard next to her. Unknown is next to him, and John Lee, San Francisco Art Director is next.
At the time, I was Creative as well as PR Director for all the US/Canadian Salons and I am to the right of Fernando Romero. Next to me is, I think, Gary, who made videos, then Paul Thomas of the Beverly Hills Salon, who was doing the hair of Goldie Hawn at the time. Next to him was Miwa of the New York Salon, then Sukki Art Director, LA with Kaz, Color, LA. Next is Steven Docherty then of the Chicago Salon (who recommended me to John Sahag) and next to him is Graham Wren, International Artistic Director, who did most of the hair for most of my collections during my 2 year period at Vidal Sassoon (1979-1981.) John K. of Chicago is at the other end of the table. Also present, but not photographed here were Helen Chudoba, Toronto Artistic Director … Vernon Keach, NY Artistic Director, Edward Moore, Color New York … Feary Bina, Color Toronto … Greg Miller, Color Chicago. I can’t for the life of me remember what exactly was discussed but I think it was some talent there and some meeting.
CommentMemories. John Sahag Note and Sketches – 1996
Memories. Just found this handwritten note in my archives, from John Sahag to me, 1996, I think. The lovely and loving note talks of 9 sketches but I only seem to have three, two of which are seen here. The third one was the same with magenta details. I honestly can’t remember what they were for and they were never published as far as I know. It is so interesting that even then he wrote he was “ahead of time, very 21st century.” Just read the whole note – only John Sahag could write a note like this. Something to treasure …
