BoHo Chromed Goddess Hair – 2018

BoHo Chromed Goddess Hair - 2018

“The Chromed Goddess” is a bohemian look with rustic, gold, dark colors, created by Kayla Stewart, Elysian Studio, who won a Keune “blonde contest” with a trip to New York for the Modern Artist Session. First, she smoothed the thick hair with a flat Iron, then with a tiny-plated 1″ crimper, she added texture, a Mohawk section on top, and teased the hair to do an inverted braid, leaving out pieces which then connected to a French braid. The low ponytail was crimped and teased, the ends left messy. Nails by Joanne Sorbello with different shades of tarnished metallic leafing. These photos were published in the March issue of Peluquerias Magazine, in my column.

New Victorian Hair Inspired By A Hat – 2017

New Victorian Hair Inspired By A Hat - 2017

This “New Victoria” hair got a full page in my column of the March  2017 issue of Peluquerias Magazine.  “It was inspired by the shapes of women’s fashions in the Victorian age,” said Jovan Hampton of the Susan Alon Salon in Los Angeles. “I wanted the look  to be strong but feminine.  The braided bang came across like the no-fuss brim of a hat and I piled the hair on the top as if it could have been flowers.  I wasn’t aiming for perfection; the natural movement, an undone-ness was more important.”

Holiday Hair Idea: Regal Crown Braid – 2015

Holiday Hair Idea: Regal Crown Braid - 2015

This ethereal look shows many different textures while still keeping a soft, effortless appearance, by Alice Ness, an educator for The Temple, a Paul Mitchell Partner School.   After micro crimping the bottom portion of the models’ hair, everything was pulled up into a regal crown braid. For another texture element, the top of the hair was curled and styled to give volume and height. Created at a Modern Artist Session in NYC, this is a great holiday hair idea.
