Chignon With Beads @ Carolina Herrera - 2010

As New York Fashion Week nears for Spring 2015 (September 4th to 11th) here’s a look-back to Spring 2010. With hope and a prayer there will be more ideas like this, and not too many ponytails and nothing hair! This modern  chic chignon had bronze, gold or silver beads embedded by Orlando Pita for Carolina Herrera’s New York Fashion Week show that year. The beads, on a headband, showed through easy-going, gently-twisted, tucked-under knots of hair resting elegantly on napes. The hair wasn’t stiff, structured, or too perfect and was exquisite. Kind of Belle Epoque, the beautiful, nostalgic vintage-like hair and fashions in this photo were created by Jon Reyman, Aveda, and Argentine designer, Laura Valenzuela for the Argentine Designers NY Fashion Week Show,  Spring 2011.  The hair was micro-crimped into a romantic chignon with twining vine-like hair accessories. Love this delightfully ditzy terrific turban hat perched so charmingly atop short gamine hair, captured looking perfect right after one of the Sass & Bide fashion designers made it just so backstage at their NY Fashion Week Fall 2008 show.

This gamine was one short look amongst all the great crimped hair with unique hair embellishments at the witty wonderful show featuring ’40s harlequins designed by Australians Sass & Bide (Heidi Middleton and Sarah Jane Clarke.) Innovative, exciting hair by Renya Xydis for Wella Australia.   For more from this fun show, click here
