The design theme made a strong statement at the Francesca Liberatore New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2016.   Many of the fashions were made of nude sheer fabrics with black, in a distinctive design theme. Look at the design on this lovely dress and see the same design on the nails by Patti Yankee. She said she painted an inverted stripe down the sides, kind of a flag design in a nude shade (Presence) with a black stripe (Void)   The hair was by Jon Reyman for Aveda, a wet look not shown here. You can create art on your hair, for the night, with temporary wash-out pastel color chalks, as Peter Gray have done here for the Nicopanda New York Fashion Week Presentation for Fall 2016, designed by Nicola Formichetti. The Pure pigment chalks came in pink, light blue, lime green, yellow, purple, orange, red and were used in different ways on various models, for her and him. Maki Ryoke’s eye for Nicopanda was strong, an exaggerated cat’s eye with black extending gracefully right into the hairline. Hair Crimping Magic, NYFW Fall - 2016

For the Naeem Khan Fall 2016 New York Fashion Week Show, Jon Reyman created hair crimping magic. First he sprayed on each section of hair, then crimped and 1/2″ curled opposite sections horizontally, brushed it out, then backcombed, shaped and pinned to style. The crimped hair, before it was brushed out, looked like something wonderful and could be a futuristic hair style all on it own. Or is it an 18th Century modern look? Long hair was tucked into high collars at the fabulous Vera Wang New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2016. “It’s about the idea of a smaller rounded look, not pinned or sleeked, but with the hair emerging from an elongated design silhouette,” explained Paul Hanlon for Pai-Shau. This is an old, very simple trick, used in many fashion shows and editorials over the years, done beautifully here; it is a great idea for those with long hair, not often used in everyday life. Kendall Jenner wearing one of the most interesting looks at the Vera Wang New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2016 – a plastron, which is a large pad worn by fencers to protect the chest, and Vera Wang’s inspiration for this and for other fabulous fashions in her stunning show. Paul Hanlon, using Pai-Shau,  tucked the long hair into high collars for a short rounded mid-parted bob look at front. For more great Vera Wang fashions, click HERE

Earring and Eye for Brides - 2016

The brides at the Jonathan Simkhai Fall 2016 New York Fashion Week show were polished but not prim. The eye by Maybelline’s Erin Parson had little “snowflakes” glimmering here and there on the lashes to go with the “Frozen Goddess” hair by Thomas Osborn. Catwalk by TIGI.   The stunning but pretty pierced through ear look was by Peace Treaty (APC), the face had a little light glow and shine along for eyes and cheekbone for that “Frozen Goddess” theme.   For more from this show, click HERE
