Orlando Pita Origami Inspiration – Spring 2011
ORLANDO PITA’S ORIGAMI INSPIRATION
A Favorite Revisited. Orlando Pita’s origami hair at the Carolina Herrrera Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week Spring 2011 show was inspired by Asian, especially Korean influences. Love, love love it. For more of this beautiful innovative hair idea and how it was done, CLICK HERE

CommentBig Hair Accessorized with Fashion Savvy – 90s
I took these photos in the early ’90s, backstage during a Susanne Bartsch spectacular at the Manhattan Center. Bartsch, Queen of the Night then and now, attracted top talents to this amazing event – like Orlando Piita, Oribe, Danilo and more. I am not sure who the gorgeous model is, who did the awesome big hair accessorized with fashion savvy but they are all great, aren’t they? I think, fashions were by Todd Oldham.

CommentOrlando Pita’s Boyish Pompadours – 2007
Boyish pompadours by Orlando Pita for girlish fashions by Doo-Ri at her 2007 New York Fashion Week show. They were curled, teased, pinned into an upstyle using a 1.50″ curling iron with a mass of curls on top of the head, drooping curls at the front and the hair was swept up at the back in a loose, modern, very sexy way. The Big Tease, Big Young Hair – 2012
“Teased, big, young,” said Orlando Pita about this dramatic free-flowing polished bouffant hair to there. A thin headband is added to the front of the head for this big tease from the Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show. Step by steps, other versions, some fashions later, click here:

Chignon With Beads @ Carolina Herrera – 2010
As New York Fashion Week nears for Spring 2015 (September 4th to 11th) here’s a look-back to Spring 2010. With hope and a prayer there will be more ideas like this, and not too many ponytails and nothing hair! This modern chic chignon had bronze, gold or silver beads embedded by Orlando Pita for Carolina Herrera’s New York Fashion Week show that year. The beads, on a headband, showed through easy-going, gently-twisted, tucked-under knots of hair resting elegantly on napes. The hair wasn’t stiff, structured, or too perfect and was exquisite. CommentNY Fashion Week Hair Back Views – 2000s
Back views of interesting hair photographed backstage by Helen Oppenheim at the Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Weeks over the years. I photograph so many back views because that is where the only hair action all too often is. I know so many only see front views in the media, so thought you’d like to see what goes on at the back by some of the best talents in the biz. No ponytails here!
If you scroll down my blog, always a journey down memory lane, all these great styles have been featured big; also all these photos and many more plus makeup, fashions, accessories (and some tutorials with details how to re-create these looks) can be found in albums on the NY Fashion Week Menu at www.helenoppenheim.com

CommentA Collage Mistake, Revisiting Favorites – 2011
Sometimes, mistakes can be beautiful. Right, a collage which just happened, a mistake. But so interesting, I thought you’d like to see it. Top and to both sides are photos from the website cover (Dancing Hair, La Coupe’s Antonio da Costa Rocha, 1986) and center are photos from Carolina Herrera’s Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week Spring 2011 (Orlando Pita’s Origami Hair.) All photos just happen to be my all-time favorites. Revisited, the Origami Hair to left, a beautiful innovative hair idea, the kind of hair not seen often enough at NY Fashion Weeks!
