A Crown or Roses @ Dolce & Gabbana - 2017

Put a whole bunch of roses and a few strategic leaves on heads for a very special bride or gala. This lovely look by Guido, Redken’s Global Creative Director “was inspired by pure, couture Italian princesses for the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Couture Show for Fall/Winter 2017.” He allowed the hair to dry to encourage its own natural, soft texture, then pinned the hair back and up using bobby pins for adequate hold. He lightly sprayed a few loose pieces which were allowed to hang around the ears, nape of the neck and front of the face for a soft, romantic look. The flower crown of roses was secured to the head with additional bobby pins. Or the flowers could be added on a large headband.

Betsey Johnson’s girly brides from her Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week show for Summer 2009 were something else, playful, memorable.  The terrific theatrics included handcuffed brides and pirates, inspired by fairytales.  ’80s modern bobbed wigs by Italo Gregorio for Redken wowed in white, as here,  but also in  pink, turquoise, purple, black, topped off by hats with veil. Love, love, love.   To see more of Betsey’s brides, click HERE

"Slightly Punky" French Twist MFW- 2017

Love this “slightly punky” French Twist by Guido of Redken for Bottega Veneta’s Fall/Winter 2017 Milan Fashion Week Show.  The front, not shown, was a modern take on the 1940s – with a roll  – but the back of the French Twist is something else, with some pieces sticking out, just so, casual but not messy!  After making the French Twist, just “pull out a few pieces using fingers, allowing them to hang loosely for a soft, romantic feel,” advises Guido, who did the hair for most of the important fashion designer shows for Fall.  Full steps on helenoppenheim.com – click HERE

Pink Fur, Faces, Nails – 2016

Think pink fur, so glamorous, as seen here at the Area New York Fashion Week Show for Fall 2016. Pink fur, all pinks, will be big this fall and winter. Worn here with a  metallic pink lamé dress, designed by Beckett Fogg and Plotrek Panszczyk. The nails, by Tracylee had Swarovski crystals in strategic places here and there, not on every nail. The color was “Make Me Blush” by Red Carpet. Faces were by Georgina Graham for MAC Cosmetics, inspired by “cool girls who have a minimal street feeling,” The lip was a delicious matte chocolate, a new Mac Eye Gloss was introduced.
