Dover Street Market Fashions Wow – 2023

I love The Dover Street Market. It is a department store and exhibition space  like no other, as inspiring as any museum, created by Rei Kawakubo of the Japanese label Commes des Garcons and her husband Adrian Joffe. The store sells high fashion and streetwear brands, most  unorthodox, very different to fashion stores fashions.  Kawakubo has described Dover Street Market as ‘beautiful chaos.”

Top L-R : On Friday, August 5th, we were greeted by a tray with champagne and wine at the door, and on some floors … Gucci dress … Gucci shoes … Melitta Baumeister shoes.
Center : Bizzotto Gioielli W Jewelry had just arrived.  The jewelry is all exquisite and beautiful.
Bottom L-R : Claire wearing Commes des Garcons … Black and white exhibition dresses by Commes des Garcons … Dress by Chopova Lowena … Christopher in Modluxeyewear Glasses.

Originally located on Dover Street in Mayfair, London, now in New York  City (160 Lexington, entrance on 30th Street)  as well as Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and Los Angeles

“Punk Mozart” is how the amazing hair artist Julien D’Ys describes his masterpiece head treatment for the Rei Kawakubo Met Museum not to be missed exhibition featuring the inspirational fashion art by Commes des Garçons designs which opened in the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4 and will continue to September 4.  This is just one of the awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping “hair” heads by Julien D’Ys on show at the exhibition, this one from the Clothes/Not Clothes: Fact/Fiction gallery.  To see a few more and some of the fashions, click HERE
