Short Soft Sahag Hair, No Hard Edges – 1985
This short soft hair cut is so Sahag. It was done in 1985. And is just as wonderful today as it was then. It has no hard edges, and is all perfectly harmonious, as a short or any haircut should be. From a 12 page editorial in American Vogue, all with hair by the legendary John Sahag and, later in the year, Vogue published this look in black and white with more great Sahags in an article on the opening of his first John Sahag Workshop, in October of that year. CommentSahag Hair Ready for Fashion Shows – 1996+97
Hair history is here. Check out the hair ready for Fashion Shows by John Sahag, his dedicated Workshop Teams, and all the hair staff, who worked day and night (often way past midnight) weekends and their days off to make it all happen. “Haute coiffure” hand-sewn 100% human hair pieces by the hundreds, Sahag-style. The hairpieces were spread out all over the place – on trestle tables, radiators, and the floor of the Workshop for days, even when the salon was busy with clients. This is why Sahag called his salon a Workshop.

CommentSahag “Subway Folie” Hair in Beautiful Book – 1995
“Subway folie,” said John Sahag about his great hair in the Amy Fine Collins wonderful coffee table book called Hair Style, published in 1995 by Harper Collins. The curls and finish for this hair were very new looking then and this is just one of some great John Sahags in the beautiful book, along with some Sahagisms. Also featured the great hair by the best editorial hairdressers of the day. For more on Sahag in this book click here and scroll along:

CommentSahag Windsweplt Hair, Issey Miyake – 1997
1997. A short style way up there, ahead of its time. By the legendary John Sahag. for Issey Miyake’s Fall Winter 1997 Fashion Week Show in Paris. Exaggerated volume which makes the hair look windswept in a very throw-away, natural manner,” John Sahag said of the “amazing shapes” he designed for the show.

CommentRachel’s Saga Part 111 by John Sahag – 1997
1997. John Sahag’s Part 111 of Rachel’s Saga never made it to a photo studio and, as far as I know, was never released because these were my last photos with John Sahag and I left shortly after. Pity, the haircut, color and style are all magnificent. And wouldn’t have happened had Rachel not gone in that swimming pool full of chlorine without protecting her hair color. In this album, Sahag worked with the color that was left over after all the problems and used it for a very interesting finished look. He liked odd.
For how-to “very well engineered details” see and read what is in the whole album, click: And check out Rachel Part 1 and Part 11 Albums for full story what to do if you want to know Sahag’s full solution for hair gone green in a swimming pool full of chlorine.

CommentJohn Sahag, Rachel Part lll – 1997
John Sahag often gave his last client or model a glass of champagne or wine, and here’s Rachel, a John muse, enjoying hers as he concentrated to put finishing touches to her hair. He always really concentrated when he cut hair. For the finished look (unpublished, the last I did for Sahag) and a how-to, go to the last album on HairThen, John Sahag, Sahag Press Photos, Rachel Part lll on www.helenoppenheim.com/ It will be worth it!
